“Healing Hearts at Redbird Willow Farm: A Calhoun County Tribute”
The Calhoun County Commission recently honored Ray and Michele Hornsby, owners of Redbird Willow Farm, with a Special Recognition document for their contributions to the mental healing community. Opened in 2020 after the tragic loss of their son Justin in 2017, the farm serves as a sanctuary for those grieving. “What happened was like a picture frame that broke,” said Commission member Terry Howell. “You wonder what to do.” Michele, who finds solace in caring for over 110 animals, has also published a book titled “Just in Time to Be Kind,” telling the story of her son as a beacon of kindness. “We spread joy and recognize grief,” Michele said, accepting the award on behalf of their community team.
