Anniston, AL, — Anniston’s decades-long battle against PCB contamination presses on. Initial emergency cleanups in residential areas were completed by 2004, but now Snow Creek is slated for cleanup next year, followed by Choccolocco Creek. The EPA will hold a public hearing at the Oxford Civic Center on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and another at Lincoln’s Landing on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. to discuss ongoing efforts and guide residents on effective advocacy. A town hall meeting, sponsored by the West Anniston Foundation and Coosa Riverkeeper, will take place Thursday from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Wiggins Community Center in Anniston, covering the history, health impacts, and future plans for PCB remediation.
