Jana McGinnis Retires as Jacksonville State Softball Coach After 31 Seasons

Jana McGinnis, the longtime Jacksonville State softball coach, has announced her retirement after 31 seasons, during which she achieved 1,038 victories. A Spring Garden native, McGinnis led the Gamecocks to 18 conference championships and seven NCAA tournament appearances, ranking in the Top 30 for all-time Division I coaching victories. In a letter to Jax State supporters, she expressed her desire to spend more time with her family. McGinnis, a seven-time conference coach of the year, was also a standout basketball player for the Gamecocks in the early 1990s
